Connected!

As of this afternoon, I am connected again via my Macbook and wifi! The camera connection is still down...which is disappointing, but that will be sorted soon. In the mean time, my Nils will help me download a few pics in the coming days.

He helped me download these pics of my new sweater project!

Well, actually it is my first sweater project and I am excited!

I adore this pattern! It knits from the yoke down and has a really lovely pattern.

I am a little bit anxious about separating for the sleeves...but I am sure I will figure it out.

Outside of knitting, we have just been spending our time out skiing. During the week, we've had short afternoon trips each day here on our cross country tracks...but we had a really long 5 hour trip on Saturday up at the top of the mountain and it was just beautiful! Amazing sun! 

We are definitely getting Spring Fever now, for sure...looking so forward to Easter!

Sadly, the weather turned on Sunday...with warmer temperatures, melting snow and rain...not ideal for skiing. It became a bit worse today we had to get our Wellies out! 

Slushy snow and rain...a sure sign of Spring.

This week will be quite busy for us because it is Emma Grace's 11th Birthday on Friday and we are planning and making for her party and later we have all of the baking to do! It is always so much fun when the kids have their birthday!

So nice to be online again!

Winter Holidays

My Mac is back home, but sadly it stayed connected only about 5 minutes with then new Operating System. So, I am still waiting. It wouldn't stay connected to the internal wi-fi and the camera would not connect to download pictures. So, I'll have to pop back in to get it sorted.

In the meantime, we've had a lovely Winter Holiday week! The kids went to the movie one afternoon, but the rest of the time we were out each day skiing.

It was really beautiful up in the mountain...and luckily we had a lot of SUN to enjoy.

 

We managed to ski together, but inevitably the "guys" were always way ahead of us. Emma Grace and I just enjoyed a nice pace and the nature around us.

These pictures are quite high up in the mountain on a flat area...a nice place to snap a few pics.

 

The tracks are now open around our house as well...and I have spent each day out alone skiing so far this week. Lovely sun and lightly snowing today...wonderfully energizing!

I did a lot of baking during the holiday too...buns for our trips each day.

Our evenings were spent in the Studio...the kids making this and that out of all of the recycled materials that I keep...I did a bit of sewing and journal writing myself.

 

 

I love to see the kids in "action" in the studio...they are so free with their ideas and use of materials and so.very.creative!

Among all of the materials I enjoy using, I am experimenting a lot with inks right now! Simply love this process.

   
We groomed Nike-d too during the week! He looked so lovely after his bath and hair cut!

But now it is back to the routine again. 

I've not picked up my knitting in the past few days...thinking about having a cup of tea and maybe starting that sweater project this afternoon...now that my dishcloths are all but finished.

Hope to really be back "online" with my own computer very soon.

A few favorite things of late...

I have lost everything on my computer...everything...but the good news is that the repair will be covered by the warranty and will be back home again in a week or so...and life can return to normal.

I am resolved to "let go" of the worry of what is lost. I just hope Friends will email me again, and update their email addresses and what not. I will have to build again from the start. Not the first time, mind and frustrating.

We've had a lovely weekend and start to the week long Winter Holiday. We were out for a short cross-country skiing trip yesterday in the beautiful sunshine. It was nice to feel better...more like myself and have some energy to do something physical again.

It is definitely beginning to feel like the Easter/Spring season. Although, we have had a cold snap today and it is minus 14 and expected quite cold in the coming days.

So, we've been making several pots of tea each day for breakfast, lunch and in between to warm ourselves...which it is only enhanced by my new handmade tea cozy which arrived from England from a shop called The Laundry about a week or so ago.

I simply adore this! And it fitted my tea pot perfectly!

 

I also made shortbread, cranberry white chocolate cookies of late as well...my always February Valentine cookie. (Martha's Cookie Book)

They look so sweet on a plate with a cup of tea!

 

I mentioned some time earlier that I was looking for some kitchen towels when baking bread. I found someone here in Norway that does such embroidery and she made these!

They are simply beautiful...and just as I hoped! "home baked, new baked bread and bread"...are the translations. I, of course, wanted the text in Norwegian. 

I especially enjoy the small cloth at the bottom with the word bread on it. It is a little cloth that drapes around the bread while cutting slices at the table! So sweet.

 

My search for a new source of handmade soaps came to its end after finding an online shop called Saga...I ordered 5 different bars...took photos and lost them...so here is a redo of the soaps that I haven't opened, yet.

Mint, Lavender and Honey...I am currently enjoying the olive oil soap and the oatmeal soap!

I must have handmade soaps...and these are highly recommended!

 
 

These lovely pink socks arrived for Emma Grace from my favorite online shop Epla...where I purchase all things homemade! Like Etsy...but here in Norway! A dream for someone like me!

I had to get her a pair of socks quickly after knitting Nikolas' myself. I promised I would knit her a pair, but got so caught up in knitting my shawl...so these came quickly and she is enjoying warm toes too!

 

I have a new knitting project...my first sweater, just waiting...ready to start. But I heard about this new bamboo/cotton yarn that is recommended for dish towels and I just had to try it!

I HIGHLY recommend bamboo/cotton yarn for THE most luxurious dish towels ever! I have made several now and they are so soft and strangely enough have a sort of "scrub" texture to them that is gentle yet effective!

So I am sitting watching the Winter Olympics, knitting these wonderful dish cloths! I can knit one in just an hour or so! 

We so enjoy the Winter Olympics together and have been so excited and proud watching the Norwegian athletes.

Well...back again when I can borrow a computer! :0)
